Community Development Fund

Community Development Fund

Many thanks go to everyone who has and who continues to apply for support through the Ontario Natural Food Co-op Community Development Fund. We are proud and honoured to be able to support those organizations that share our vision of building a sustainable food system.  Please note that our fund dollars have been allocated for 2011, and we are currently accepting applications for 2012 on a first come, first served basis.  Please contact Kim De Lallo, Member Relations & Education Manager, at kdelallo@onfc.ca for more information.

Ontario Natural Food Co-op grants funds to organizations who share our passion to promote sustainable food choices.

The ONFC Community Development Fund is funded through our sales. An annual maximum for the fund is established at the beginning of each budget year. Funds will be donated in cash or in-kind in the form of food products to projects which meet our eligibility requirements.

ONFC will fund up to a maximum of $5,000 or a maximum of 10 percent of the organization’s total annual budget. We will consider multi-year applications which span a maximum of three years. For multi-year grants, the annual instalment amount is awarded after the recipient submits an annual progress report.

There are six applications deadlines throughout the year:

  • February 1
  • March 1
  • May 1

  • June 1
  • September 1
  • October 1

The amount granted is at the discretion of the Community Development Fund Approvals Committee as they make the final decision on grant applications. The committee is comprised of ONFC members and the Member Relations & Education Coordinator.

ONFC is proud and pleased to have supported these groups in their efforts to share the message of sustainable food systems with their communities:
