ONFC - A Brief History

  • Founded in 1975 as Toronto Federation of Food Co-operatives & Clubs, Inc.
  • Incorporated in 1976 as Ontario Federation of Food Co-operatives & Clubs, Inc. (OFFCC)
  • Founded by 11 food co-operatives and clubs.
  • 1986 the Co-op made a decision to sell to for-profit natural food stores.
  • 1989 - ‘Ontario Natural Food Co-op’ becomes the trade name for OFFCC.
  • 1992 - Randy Whitteker, ONFC’s current GM, becomes General Manager.
  • 2002 - Co-op staff grew to 55+ full time employees .
  • 2011 - ONFC celebrates our 35th year.
