ONFC Values Are Valued

Taking the long view in a strategic plan depends on finding your roots.  ONFC’s grounding comes from our values, mission, and vision of our role in the world.   Check out the newly minted statements on the website . Two Board members speak about the value of ONFC to them.

Loretta McHenry, General Manager, London Co-op Store (London), ONFC Board Vice-President

“I really appreciate ONFC so much that I cannot express it completely.  I trust the management and everyone works so hard and has done so for so many years.  ONFC searches for things that are good for the earth.  It goes beyond the food.  We are appreciated as members.  When you are a Board member, you learn to listen, you have a voice, you can speak up if there is something that you want to say, and it is ok to say what’s on your mind.  You don’t have to have all the answers, and it is wonderful to know that there are other likeminded individuals around the table.

I absolutely relate to these statements of values, mission, and vision.  It is obvious that there was so much care and thought put into this – these are really co-operative values.  ONFC is good people doing the right thing.  It is progressive.  We are being proactive as a co-op.”

Rudi Mogl, Owner, Tara Natural Foods natural food store (Kingston), Retired ONFC Board member

“It makes a huge amount of sense for an industry like ours to have an organization like ONFC that we basically own.  We own the distributor, and we can guide its future and the way it is run.

The health food industry is a very small part of the food industry and is threatened by the mass market. Therefore, the more of it we can control, the better.

And, I wish that more people would wake up to this potential.  ONFC - We own it. “
