TIPS

Consult the Buying Club catalogue to find out which products are Canadian, Organic, Kosher, Biodegradable, Hypoallergenic, Dairy-free, Gluten-free, Wheat-free or Fair Trade. The catalogue makes it a breeze to tailor your shopping list to suit your own needs!

Running a Buying Club involves a lot of different tasks. Share the work amongst your members. Co-operatively structured clubs stay together longer.

Use the ONFC website to link to company sites for the products you buy. These sites will provide you with background information on the company, and often they will contain additional information such as ingredient listings, nutritional information and even recipes!

Make your delivery day fun! Put on a pot of fair trade coffee and make sorting your order into a social event. Order a few extra snack items that you can break into while you’re sorting the order and catch up with your members while you work.

Have your orders delivered to a location that is central to other members. Make sure the member who is receiving the order has adequate space in their refrigerator and freezer to store food until other members can pick it up.

Make a schedule. Let everyone know when the orders will be delivered and when their individual orders must be submitted. This will ensure that everyone’s orders arrive in plenty of time to meet ONFC’s deadline (we must receive your orders one week in advance of your delivery date).

Take advantage of the monthly Buying Club specials. The specials can be downloaded from the website and savings range from 10% up to 25% off the regular price!
